Bella Cosplay- (CLOSED) Contest Stock by Tris-Marie Bella Cosplay- (CLOSED) Contest Stock by Tris-Marie
Model and Photographer: :iconclaimyourself:

I am holding my first ever Contest/Challenge. I need everyone's help! I took this photo with the new lens I bought yesterday for my Nikon. It's a lens valued at $600 so my expectations are kinda high. This photo was taken today in my studio with the new lens. Anyone that is interested in the contest this is what you could win:

*One of my premium photos for free (your choice which one)
*if you are an author you would win a free ebook cover of your choice from my gallery
*you could win exclusive stock if you are a book cover artist!
*25 points

I will pick 4 winners and each winner will get one of the above listed prizes.

Now for what I need you to do for the contest.
  • fave this photo
  • download this photo and zoom up as much as you can to see the detail and pixilation
  • compare it to another photo in my gallery taken with my old lens. let me know which photo you are comparing to
  • tell me in a comment below if this photo looks better quality or if the photos with my other lens were better
The point of this is so I know if the cost of this lens has been worth it, or should I consider returning it.

This photo is also free to use as stock if you wish. Let me know if you are entering the contest. You are only eligible to win if you do all 4 things listed. There will only be 4 winners. You are welcome to tell any of your friends you think might benefit from this contest or anyone that has good knowledge of camera clarity. Contest is time sensitive and will end at 6pm Central Time (US) Good Luck!Good Luck

Contest is now closed and I am currently tallying up the winners :) winners will be contacted about prizes soon!

Hands down, this is a sharper Image ! ( I say this in general ,like speaking to a crowd ) But it's not the equipment that makes the perfect concept/capture/image ! It's the 12 inches behind the camera that really counts ! YOU!

For instance; Take an hour, two or all day to set up one shot! Not the model! The camera, the lighting and mood of the shot! Then introduce the model to tie the story altogether . Check your shots if they are not clear, sharp images ( and were suppose to be ) do it over.

Focus-- for those do it yourself models, with remote shutter release ! A piece of paper with a heavy black X drawn on it, held by a helper or hung , exactly where the models face will be will help ensure correct focus.

75% ( more ) of images here on DA are blurry ! Grandmothers loves them , Me, not so much! Sorry I get carried away, I just want everyone to do good ! :)

 BTW what is your new lens ? 18mm X 55mm ?

I usually try to set something bright where I'm going to be sitting and place a cowboy hat where my head will be haha!
I do spend a lot of time trying to get it right. it is hard when you're using the remote...also hard because images that seem clear in the viewfinder I will upload and they look just enough off on the computer you know?

I forgot to say set camera to manual focus then focus on the X. My eye's are so bad I have to upload to computer to check them, Blind photographer what's the world coming to ! I see you've gotten lighting equipment also ! :) A lot to learn about lighting also. Most of all have fun !

I compared it to the following, fav.me/d6u7x8o   and it is more clear and sharper.  The other one seems a bit blurry in spots, like you cant see the strands of hair clearly like in this new one.  So the new lens is really awesome, so keep taking photos with it, its doing the job :)

I don't need to do the contest but my 2cents...
I compared the seeker to this one and at 200% zoom the difference was pretty big. Granted, this also depends on if you cropped either of them. I noticed this one was a larger file size overall.

The new one looks much sharper.

I did notice when I looked at the image size that it was bigger than usual...does that have something to do with a lens? hm....

No I don't think it does, but I may be wrong. Did you crop the seeker?

I don't know anything about cameras, but this photo looks to me of better quality. Also, to my joy, I can see your eyes really ARE hazel-green! (I made a photomanipulation of you once and THOUGHT I had changed them from brown to hazel green. This is a delightful discovery! - We have the same eye color by the way. :) ^^

The photo you photographed yourself is great. I see that the focus of your lens is in good condition. So I say that this photo has good quality because of the lens you used! :D

Hey love! I compared this photo to claimyourself.deviantart.com/a…. Your new photo definitely is clearer. Details are very sharp especially when I zoom way in. I zoomed in on one of your eyes in each one since that is kind of my trademark with my vampire pictures. When I got as close with your Seeker photo, it blurred a bit.

My opinion? Honestly I could make a vampire picture very easily with either photo. While the sharpness of your new photo is very cool does it make a difference with what I do? Not really. All of your photos with your old lens are beautiful and you post them in a resolution that is much higher than what others do. And I'm a thrifty person and $600 is a lot to me. However the final decision is yours. I know you probably will use it for other things besides deviantART and as a photographer, you would want the best equipment that you can afford.

I hope this helps, dear! :huggle:

P.S. The title of this photo is Bella Cosplay. Bella from Twilight? If so, I have a Twilight technique that I think you would enjoy to see. :giggle:

saaaweeeet! all of the above haha ;)

very helpful review by the way! I am beginning to make and sell book covers, some that will go to print, and thing is I don't want to be downgrading my quality for that reason you know? that's why it's so important to me. it is a lot of money that's why I'm kinda stressed about it...and also decided the contest might be a fun idea to lighten things up for myself and kinda make it fun :) and it gives me an excuse to reward my friends :)

I was thinking about that when you mentioned books. Resolution and clarity are a definite must! Probably a good investment for you. I'm a thrifty shopper, was that the best price for that lens? I've never priced any before and my mouth dropped open when you said it was $600. I'm struggling with keeping up on my bills!!! :faint:

Wishing you the best of luck in your new endeavor! Hope you have lots of success. :tighthug:

I'll be waiting for your new photos to "Twilight"! I even have a sparkly skin technique! :giggle:

omgosh...you make my dreams come true haha :happybounce:
I would love to sparkle! hehe Heart

I'm not sure if it was the best price... I did get a 200$ instant rebate...still that's a lot of money I know! my other lens broke though...it came off it's track and I couldn't get it back on track and anyway I've had it for I guess 4 years really so figured I would try to upgrade if I had to replace it. but I'm sure I could have maybe gotten a cheaper deal online but I can't live a day without my camera :P lol

Lol! Post a photo standing in a sunbeam and I will make you sparkle! :giggle: I'm going to repost some of my old Twilight pics that I made soon. Quality is kind of low because I was new to the whole manip scene. Should be able to make some really cool ones now!

Sounds like you are happy with your lens so go for it and make some photo magic!!!
